DONATE

Since 2001, CLAM has worked to ensure that permanently affordable homes will always be part of the landscape of West Marin. Our continued success depends on the support of community members who value this mission. Your contribution helps us expand housing opportunities and strengthen the community we all call home.

Make a Direct Donation

Whether you give once or join the CLAM Key Club as a monthly sustaining donor, every contribution makes a difference. Monthly gifts provide steady, reliable support that allows us to plan ahead and respond quickly when housing opportunities arise. By spreading your gift throughout the year, you can make a larger annual impact while managing smaller monthly amounts.

Give Through Your IRA

If you're at least 70½ years old, you can support CLAM while receiving tax benefits. Through an IRA Charitable Rollover (also called a qualified charitable distribution), you can give up to $100,000 per year directly to CLAM without paying income taxes on the distribution. Your financial institution can help you arrange this gift.

Donate Stock or Appreciated Assets

When you donate securities or mutual funds that have increased in value and been held for more than one year, you can reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes while providing important support to CLAM. If your stock is held in a brokerage account, your broker can transfer it electronically through CLAM's Schwab account. Contact Director of Operations Leah Fritts Vitali at leah@clam-ptreyes.org or 415-663-1005 to alert us about your gift and receive transfer information.

Give Through a Donor Advised Fund

If you have a Donor Advised Fund, you can easily designate CLAM as a recipient. When you commit to spending down at least half of your DAF through initiatives like #HalfMyDAF, your donations may become eligible for dollar-for-dollar matches. Visit HalfMyDAF.com to learn more and nominate CLAM.

Donate Your Vehicle

Your old car, truck, boat, RV, motorcycle, or other vehicle can benefit CLAM—whether it's running or not. Visit careasy.org or call 855-500-7433 and choose the Community Land Trust Association of West Marin to receive the proceeds. All types of motorized vehicles are accepted, including planes, heavy equipment, and farm machinery.

Leave a Legacy

Including CLAM in your will or trust is a meaningful way to ensure affordable housing remains part of West Marin's future. Most legacy gifts are straightforward to arrange, and many options exist to meet your needs and objectives.

  • Bequests: Naming CLAM as a beneficiary in your will is easy and remains in your control. You can leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or make the gift contingent on certain criteria. You can also name CLAM as a beneficiary of your life insurance.

  • Gifts of Land or Property: Making a gift of land through your will or trust creates a permanent legacy in West Marin and may provide estate tax benefits for your heirs.

You can also donate a house (receiving a tax deduction for its full fair-market value), sell your home to CLAM at a discounted price (known as a “bargain sale,” or donate while continuing to live in your home through a Charitable Remainder Trust.

  • 1 Percent for Affordable Housing: If you've sold your home, you can support affordable housing for others by donating 1 percent of your sale price or profit to CLAM.
