2024 Annual Meeting Minutes
Saturday, June 8, 2024, 3:00pm to 5:00pm
At The Dance Palace in Point Reyes Station
Before the meeting began, members enjoyed food and beverages, live music by Grupo Cadencia, and socializing in the garden. In the Main Lobby was a slideshow celebrating CLAM’s volunteers, information on our various projects, and a wonderful presentation of photographs by the Latino Photography Project.
Program:
Welcome: CLAM Board member Elvira Xaxni, was Mistress of Ceremonies, welcoming everyone to our Annual Meeting and describing the agenda for the meeting. She explained there were headsets available for those needing Spanish translation of the meeting, as well as child care for those requiring it. She then acknowledged our special guests Supervisor of District Four, Dennis Rodoni, and his aides Morgan Patton and Fernando Barretto, Annie O’Connor, Executive Director of the Bolinas Community Land Trust, Harriet Moss from Stinson Beach Affordable Housing Committee, Hal Russek, Executive Director of the Two Valleys Community Land Trust, and Cassandra Benjamin, Interim Director of Policy from the Marin Community Foundation. 142 people attended this Annual Meeting.
Interim Executive Director Corey Ohama was then introduced and asked to make remarks about her time these past 3 months helping CLAM while they searched for a new Executive Director. She thanked CLAM’s Board President, Pamela Wright for all her help and support during these past several months. Corey then introduced our two new Latino families Jose and Jocelyn, and Juan Diego and Johanna, who have recently moved into CLAM housing. Cory also gave an update of the Coast Guard Project and stated CLAM is currently housing a total of 71 people in our other properties. She also thanked Board Member and Property Committee Chair Steve Antonaros for donating his time to create remodeling plans for the house at 60 Third Street in Pt Reyes Station. When completed, this house will contain three living units. She also mentioned CLAM is exploring the Age-In-Place program and that CLAM will be checking out these properties to find good fits for the community’s housing needs. She then introduced CLAM Board President Pamela Wright.
Board President Pamela Wright spoke, thanking Corey Ohama for her dedication to CLAM as our Interim Executive Director. She also thanked Board Member Carol Whitman for her service to CLAM for over two years as our Board Secretary. Pamela then called up Annie O’Connor, long-time friend of Jarrod Russel and Executive Director of Bolinas Community Land Trust, to help introduce Jarrod to the CLAM membership. Pamela then asked members of the Executive Director Search Committee to step forward, and each give a brief comment about what they liked about Jarrod. Committee members include community members Jonathan Barajas, Marshall Livingston, Kirk Marckwald, Socorro Romo, Scoby Zook, and Pamela Wright, Chair. Jarrod then gave brief remarks in English and in Spanish to those present.
Business Meeting:
Call to Order & Minutes: The meeting was called to order by Board President Pamela Wright. Kerry Livingston made a motion to pass the minutes from the 2023 Annual Meeting. They were seconded and approved unanimously by the members present.
Introduction of Board Nominees & Election: Board President Pamela Wright introduced Board Development Committee Chair Sarah Myers, who presented the new board nominees being recommended by the board for 2024-2025, including Resident Representative Angela Mota, General Representative Nicole Bartolini, and General Representative Lynn Giacomini Stray for election to their first three-year term on the board. Also introduced was Public Member Steve Antonaros, Chair of the Property Committee and member of the Finance and Audit committee, who is being recommended for a second three-year term to the CLAM Board. The vote was taken, and all four candidates were overwhelmingly approved. Their biographies and photos were included in the event Program.
Conclusion: Elvira Xaxni thanked all CLAM members, the board, CLAM staff and sponsors for all their efforts for today’s meeting and more. The meeting was adjourned at 5:05pm.
Entertainment:
All those in attendance were treated to a wonderful dance performance by The Ballet Folkorico Canela.
