Position Title: Communications Associate
Location: Point Reyes Station, CA (Hybrid schedule)

Compensation and Benefits: hourly rate ranging from $33 to $36. Benefits include prorated paid time off, sick pay, and flexible work schedule with hybrid options

Position Overview

CLAM is seeking a part-time communications associate to join CLAM to increase our capacity for storytelling to attract and retain members, volunteers, partners, donors, and future residents.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will play a critical role by managing the digital production of CLAM’s website, newsletters, and email campaigns; implementing social media; and creating and managing digital assets to support storytelling. In addition, you will support all communications programs through the expert use of marketing tools and lending assistance to project management and reporting.

You will work closely with all members of CLAM staff, across development, property, operations, and administrative functions. Because development and communications are tightly woven together, you will be partnering with the development team on a constant basis. For example, while events are managed by the development team, you will provide communications for events as well as operational support when needed. You will also have the opportunity to work with several independent consultants who support public relations, photography, videography, visual design, and other communications specialities.

Key Responsibilities

Newsletter and email production

  • Use CMS to produce the monthly newsletter and email campaigns

  • Computer-aided translation

  • Proofing and publishing

  • Newsletter and email design templates

  • Performance metrics

Web production

  • Posting content

  • Computer-aided translation

  • Contribute to content creation

  • Contribute to UI/UX design

  • Research, share, and implement best practices

  • Performance metrics

Social media

  • Social strategy: platforms, audiences, goals, frequency, messaging

  • Copywriting; image and video production

  • Quality control

  • Community engagement

  • Sentiment analysis

  • Performance metrics

In-house image and video production

  • Capture and edit raw material

  • Contribute to and follow brand guidelines

  • Recommendations do in-house vs outsource

  • Identify and build team of pro bono partners

Digital asset management

  • Tag and store digital assets for easy retrieval

  • Organize current collection

Support for all communications programs as needed

  • Content creation, editing, and proofreading

  • Public relations and blog research

  • Surveys

  • Paid media testing

Required Qualifications

  • Two+years of success in communications with a nonprofit or for-profit organization

  • Digital marketing experience with newsletters, email, and websites

  • Social media engagement; preferably experience with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube

  • Superior writing and editorial skills

  • Photography, video, and video editing capabilities

  • Experience with planning, marketing, and productivity tools; CLAM uses Asana,

  • Squarespace, MailChimp, Bloomerang, Canva, Slack, and Google Workspace

  • After receiving initial guidance, the ability to take on projects with a high degree of autonomy; knowledge of when to ask for help

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and partners

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree

  • Bilingual English-Spanish language proficiency

  • Volunteer or work experience in social services, ideally affordable housing

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
