Passive House

CLAM successfully completed development of the first, new construction, Passive House in California in July 2010!  This marks an important first for California as energy conservation leaders across all sectors work to increase affordable housing options while addressing climate change. The Blue House Project started with the renovation of the main house on the property, also using Passive House methods. This project enables CLAM to provide two highly energy-efficient affordable rental homes for “very-low-income” households, those at/below 60% of Area Median Income (AMI), for example a family of four that earns $58,080 per year. Energy bills for tenants, so far, are about 84% of the cost of energy for a home of it’s size.
